Won a competition but organizers did not give us the full prize money. What should we do?

About a year ago, my team and I participated in a hackathon where we won first place, with a promised prize of $20,000 USD in Ethereum (altcoin). Fast forward to this week — we finally received the prize, but it was only worth around $11,000.When we reached out for clarification, it took them a week to respond. They claimed that the prize amount was based on the market value of the tokens on the day the token was released. However, when we checked the actual token price from that release date, the total still only adds up to about $17,000, not $20,000.At this point, it’s clear to us that the organizers never intended to send the full amount that was promised.
